ACCESS SQL SERVER TO USE NORTHWIND DB (continuation)

I went to Start>programs>sqlserver2005>configuration tools>surface area configuration.

Next, I selected local and remote connections.Further, under this selection there is:

Using TCP/IP only (SELECTED)

Using named pipes only; and

Using both TCP/IP and named pipes.

Again, I received a message saying SQL server does not allow remote connection.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!!

I would make sure that you have followed all of the instructions in the following kb http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;914277

Thanks for the link on how to configure the SQL server to allow remote connections!

In step 3 for creating exceptions in Windows Firewall, the Instance ID is located and is showing as MSSQL.1.Even though MSSQL.1 is showing in the Instance ID, it is not active, meaning the text is lightly showing, not boldly showing.Should the text for MSSQL.1 be active?
