You can connect use the OLE DB Provider for Microsoft Indexing Service to
connect to the remote Index Server. More info:

Accessing DataTable(s) in Dataset
set is put into a datatable within the dataset. I have an SRS report
that is calling a stored proc that does the same thing. However, SRS
doesn't show me that second data table so I can get access to it's
columns. Is there a way to see multiple data tables from within a

As far as I know, there is not; however, you can create multiple
datasets: one dataset per resultset. Sorry that I could not be of
greater assistance.

Accessing dataset with custom code
Hi,
Need a little help on the code here. How can I import values from an RSS dataset? I will store them in a hash table and then call the function to check for dups. An example or pointer or article reference would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Since RSS is xml, you can use the XML data processing extension that comes with SQL Server 2005. This link has documentation on this feature:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms159741.aspx
Basically, you create a data source in report designer with type xml and specify the connection string to be the url of RSS feed. The query language it uses is similar to XPath. The doc for the query language is here:
http://msdn2.microsoft.com/en-US/library/ms365158.aspx
|||Here is an example of using the Xml Data Processing extension using this forum's RSS feed as the source.Connection String:
http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/rss.aspx?ForumID=82&Mode=0&SiteID=1
Query:
<Query>
<ElementPath IgnoreNamespaces="True">rss{}/channel{title,link, description}/item{title, date, link, description, comments}</ElementPath>
</Query>

Thanks for all the help. This stuff is pretty much new to me. I'm mostly familiar with VBA, Classic VB, and T-SQL but we'll see where this leads.

Accessing .NET dlls from Stored procedures
and how to call those methods in those dlls from Stored proceduresI know that it is possible but I haven't done so myself. You would use an extended stored procedure and a type library conversion to get this to work with SQL Server 2000.

Access to SQL migration
A
code. For example, this is typical:
SELECT Name, DOB, VeryComplexFunction([Value]) AS NumericResult
FROM Table
where,
VeryComplexFunction is a function that is in an Access VBA code
module
All the Access query/VBA works of course, but now I need to migrate to SQL.
I be very grateful for for any help or pointers that anyone can offer.

I had a similar problem when I was tasked to upgrade my companys system from
Access to MSSQLS.
What you're looking at is recreating the VBA function as an SQL Server User
Defined Function (UDF) - which is going to require a knowledge of T-SQL.
For upgrading in general I can heartily recomend "Microsoft Access
Developer's Guide to SQL Server" by Chipman & Baron (0-672-31944-6).
Sorry this is a bit vague but I hope it helps.
Thanks
Chris.|||An in-line expression and then a user-defined function should be the
first things to try. Other options are to use an Extended SP or do the
calc in your middle tier.
Don't assume that the way it is done in VB is the best way in SQL. For
example, calculations involving many inputs could possibly be
simplified with a more set-based approach using joins and aggregates.

Access Reports via URL
I figured, that I can call reports directly via URL and pass the
appropriate parameters in the URL when adding '&mypara=value'.
So far so good. But I could not figure out so far, how I can pass
parameters that allow "multiselections". Using the above notation
doesn't seem to work ... :(

Access from MS-Excel to Analysis-Services-Cube from different domain
We have some server installed with customer, which run in an exclusive
domain (only this server and because of that also DC). Let's call him
"OLAP-Server".
All the clients are in another domain.
Access to "OLAP-Server" via HTTP works fine, also mapping of a drive (with
manual authification).
There is no firewall between all the Server and PCs in all domains. So we
can exclude problems with ports.
What does not work?
Access from Excel-XP-Clients or Excel-2003-Clients to OLAP-Server (running
Analysis Services) will always be blocked.
If in domain auf OLAP-Server there is an user with SAME username and SAME
password as in the other domains, access from MS-Excel works fine. If not,
access will not be possible.
Analysis Services may not be configured for access via HTTP or HTTPS as we
have installed Standard-Edition of SQL-Server.
Question 1: is there a possibility to access to Analysis-Services-Cube via
HTTP or HTTPS also on standard-edition? (except of installing local Excel
and publice as HTML... ...we need a REAL access via Client-installed
MS-Excel!
Question 2: is there a possibility to deactivate authentification to
Analysis-Services-Cube? A trusted domain (even in outgoing connection) ist
not possible due to internal reasons.
Many thanks for urgently required help!
Best regards,
Klaus

NTLM or basic authentication?
does IIS is on the same server as your OLAP Server?
maybe there is a delegation problem.
so try the basic authentication first.

I have found that the syntax is used for access sql and not sql server 2000.

Please hellp me get the syntax right. If you have any suggestions on books

Access denied on ScriptTransfer call
I wrote an application which connects to the SQL Server with the "sa"
login. It is then calling the "ScriptTransfer" method on a Database
object, in order to obtain the SQL scripts behind a database.
Unfortunately it throws an "access denied" exception on the method
call.
Do you know where should i set the correct permissions for the
operation to execute successfully? The likely cause is that your target ScriptFile specification isn't
consistent for the specified ScriptFileMode. ScriptFile can specify either
a folder or file, depending on the specified ScriptFileMode. You might get
an 'access denied' error if you indicated the single script file option but
specified a folder as the ScriptFile.
Hope this helps.
